I wasn’t fully convinced I was going to like Strong Passions when I first started it.

Even by the end, I still wasn’t fully sure who I believed, which made the whole experience feel a little unsettling in the best way.
Listening to this on audio made it even more immersive. I got through it in just a few days because I kept wanting to see what would happen next, even though I went into it expecting something slower.
What surprised me most, though, was how personal the reading experience felt.
I’m someone who has always loved history, and that’s something I got from my grandmother. She passed away, but while I was listening to this, I kept thinking about how much she would have loved this book. It has that kind of story—detailed, dramatic, and rooted in real people—that feels like it’s meant to be shared or talked about afterward.

Final Thoughts
Strong Passions ended up being very different from what I expected—in a good way.
It starts off feeling dense, but if you stick with it, it turns into a layered, dramatic story that keeps pulling you deeper. It’s a great option if you’re trying to get into nonfiction but still want something that has a bit of a “soap opera” feel to it.
I’m really glad I gave it the time it needed.
