As a teacher, I’m always looking for fun, affordable ways to surprise my students — especially at the end of the school year. This year, I came across something totally different: 7-inch flexible rainbow pencils. I ended up ordering two sets — one to gift my students as a last-day surprise, and one to tuck away for our classroom prize box next year.
And let me tell you… my students absolutely loved them.
At first, they were a little confused. None of them had ever seen a pencil that could bend and twist without breaking. But once they realized how flexible these were, they had so much fun playing with them. They doubled as both a writing tool and a fidget — and for some kids, that combination was perfect.
I also appreciated how colorful they were. Each pencil came in bright rainbow stripes, and the kids loved picking their favorite. Unlike a lot of novelty gifts, these pencils are something students can actually use.
A couple things to know before you order:
- Sharpening feels different. I recommend using a hand sharpener instead of an electric one.
- They can be distracting. While they’re great for gifts, rewards, or a classroom prize box, I probably wouldn’t recommend them as everyday writing pencils.
Personally, I plan to keep handing these out for birthdays and small rewards throughout the year. It’s such a little thing for me, but for my students, gifts like this are a big deal. Seeing their excitement over something so simple reminded me just how much small gestures matter.
If you’re looking for a fun, affordable, and unique classroom gift idea, I can’t recommend these enough. They’re colorful, practical, and sure to bring a smile to your students’ faces.
